WHAT MAY TURN out as an illegal eviction, akin to jankara judgement, was perpetrated on Saturday at Fakehinde Estate, Ido Osun by one Albert Akinyemi popularly known as Nebatosh. He threw out into the cold weather families including an octogenarian with their properties scattered after he forcefully ejected them and some of their properties carted away.
One of the victims who spoke with The Telescope Nigeria, Sunday said it was like a movie. “the men came, Nebatosh and two policemen, one in uniform and one in mufti with their “charge and bail” lawyer.
“They marched into my room and started throwing my property out. They stole my television set and home theatre and other things that I have not been able to itemise.
“They were waiving a paper they said was a court paper which they refused to give us a copy. I believe this to be a fake court paper because though I travelled my neighbours said the case they took to the court was thrown out last Wednesday”.
Another victim who was in court, Mrs Awity said the man, Albert Akinyemi (Nebatosh) “has been playing pranks with the estate which did not belong to him. We did not rent the house from him. Our rent was paid directly to the Oludo Palace.
“He came sometime last year and said we should vacate the premises. We went to the palace and he was summoned. His agent that went there could not say anything tangible and was sent away. He later approached the court and as I am speaking with you the man he calls lawyer (K.E Ngwoke) has never served us any court paper except the one he wrote on his letterhead.
“We went to the court and the judge at Magistrate Court 2 threw away (dismissed) the case. I was surprised to see them today shouting like hooligans and saying Oludo who was supporting you has passed away, let us see who will come to your rescue now.
“Because I have been having it hot with them and I was always appearing at the court to speak they could not come to my room”.
An eyewitness who lives opposite the estate, Mrs Adewale Adedapo said the man “Nebatosh sent for me three times because a company that owns an abattoir behind my house is using one of the flats to store its properties that I should come and see him there as they were going to throw away the properties belonging to the abattoir company. I told the messenger to go and tell Nebatosh to come to me if he wanted to see me.
“I later learnt that they broke the apartment and later sealed it back. I don’t know what he and his agent stole from the room.”
The two police officers who accompanied him were said to have come from the Ido Osun Divisional Police Station.
Efforts to get the palace to speak on the matter proved abortive as the Eesa the second in command to the King was said to have travelled and he confirmed this when a call was placed across to him.
A palace source who wished to remain anonymous because he was not authorised to speak said “Akinyemi is an ingrate. The land he built his house was sold cheaply to him by the late Balogun. The estate in question did not belong to him. He just wants to appropriate it to himself because he is an Ekiti man as the late Fakehinde”.
The youths of the town warned that if Albert Akinyemi did not stop harassing people who are living there and are trying to rebuild their lives, he would have them to contend with.
Meanwhile, we learnt that he never appeared in court for the case he instituted which made the case to be dismissed in court.
Efforts made to speak with him and his lawyer failed and messages sent to them were yet to be responded to at the time of filing this report.
