MR. KAYODE Alabi, the Kwara State Deputy Governor, has called on Nigerian youths to shun corrupt leaders to safeguard their future.
He made the call while condemning the menace of drug abuse and its effect on the youth and the society when he received the Executive and members of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, Kwara State Chapter led by its Chairman, Mr Kazeem Elewure in his office.
The Deputy Governor said the menace should be addressed holistically to safe the lives of addicts and make them useful citizens.
He described quality education as one of the solutions to the menace and corrupt tendencies pervading the society.
Mr Alabi condemned corruption and acquisition of wealth through illegal means, and called on the youth not to support corrupt politicians to stem the ugly tide in the country.
“When youth support corrupt politicians, you are giving them wrong signal and also mortgaging your future. Corruption is a war all Nigerians should kick against in all ramifications” the Deputy Governor explained.
He assured the Youth Forum of government support in exterminating drug abuse and corruption in the society.
Mr Alabi advised the youth to move closer to God and use their energy and strength to work for the development and progress of the state and the nation.
The Chairman of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, Mr Kazeem Elewure commended the State Government for its achievements urging it not to relent in this direction.
Mr Elewure said the menace of drug abuse had reached an alarming rate calling on all stakeholders to play significant role to eradicate the menace.
The Chairman called on the government to wage serious war against drug and child abuse in the State.
