Prof Sulaiman Donates Buses To Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila Orangun

Commends President Tinubu’s Strategic Focus on Education

The Pro Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council of Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila Orangun, Prof Wale Sulaiman, has donated buses to the institution to support the welfare of students.

Prof Sulaiman made the donation during an event at the university, where he explained that the gesture was inspired by a passionate appeal from the Director of Students’ Affairs. The director had highlighted the difficulties students face commuting to school, with some walking miles to get to the gate and then walking several more miles to get to their classrooms.

Prof Sulaiman, who is also a renowned neurosurgeon, shared his personal story of rising from a humble background to become a successful professional. He emphasized the importance of education, saying it was the cornerstone of success.

“I believe so much that if Nigeria is going to be better, and it will by God’s grace, it is up to the elites,” Prof Sulaiman said. “The elites of this country can change this country. If we decide today that we want a better country and we stay focused on what we want to get it done, we’ll change this country.”

He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s focus on education, saying it was a critical area of development. “One of the major cornerstones of critical priority of his Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is an investment in education,” Prof Sulaiman said.

In his remarks, the Registrar of the University, Mr. Kazeem Kayode Babamale ably representing the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Akeem Olawale Lasisi, lauded Professor Sulaiman as a visionary leader dedicated to educational development. Describing him as a “harbinger of progress,” Babamale highlighted the Pro-Chancellor’s role in driving the university toward greater achievements.

The Orangun of Ila Orangun, His Royal Highness Oba Abdul Wahab Olukayode Oyedotun Bibiire I and the Alajaba of Ajabaland were among dignitaries who attended the event and praised Prof Sulaiman’s commitment to the welfare of students.

On his part, the Orangun of Ila Orangun thanked Prof Sulaiman for his support, saying the buses would go a long way in changing the narrative for students who had been facing difficulties commuting to school.

The Alajaba of Ajabaland also praised Prof Sulaiman, saying he had demonstrated his commitment to changing the narrative at the university. “You have shown that you are truly here to change the narratives,” the Alajaba said. “From your hard-earned money, you deemed it fit to purchase brand new buses for the students.”

Prof Sulaiman encouraged the students to take their education seriously, emphasizing that it was the key to unlocking their potential.

“You have entrusted us with your education by choosing to study here. We will do our best to support you, but we also expect you to take your studies seriously and make the most of the opportunities available to you.” He said.

The Students’ Union leader, Akinduro Oriola, thanked the Pro-Chancellor for the thoughtful gesture, assuring him that the vehicles would be put to good use. He also reaffirmed the students’ commitment to learning and contributing positively to society.

Other members of the Governing Council who were present at the event were; Prof. Oluwole Ayoola Atoyebi, Dr. Abdullah Abba, Dr. Chibuzo Okereke, and Mr. Augustine. The University Principal officers presents at the event were; Mr. Kassim Kayode Babamale, Registrar, Mr. Adelani Adebayo Oyewale, Bursar, and Mrs. Bukky Olufemi Asubiojo, the University Librarian and others.
