BAUCHI STATE Governor, Bala Mohammed has ordered the closure of all markets in the state with effect from March 26,2020. The order does not include places where foodstuffs, pharmacies, petrol stations, and supermarkets selling essential items, and bakeries, that will remain open.
“But must comply with instructions on environmental cleanliness”. Bauchi State Deputy Governor Baba Tesla, and the State Outbreak Response Committee Chairman on Lassa Fever and CoVid 19 in the state, announced when he addressed Government House press crew.
He disclosed that, “the State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed who tested positive is in isolation taking medication and doing well”. Meanwhile, of the 28 cases traced, only one person has been indexed, while others have tested negative. The state government’s decision to restrict any gathering to not more than 50 persons is to minimize social interaction over Corona virus pandemic.
Senator Tela also disclosed that, “Specialist Hospital and Federal Medical Centre Azare have been readied to receive severe cases of the Covid19”.
Similarly, General Hospital, Toro has also been prepared as “holding place (Isolation Centre) for those who might test positive”.
According to him,”officials of National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, have also been advised to direct their members to observe the rules on passenger conveyance,”not to carry more than three passengers per vehicle”.
“The NURTW vehicles should also provide hand sanitizers to their passengers and to comply with. The self-distancing”.
Meanwhile, the state is expecting the approval of National Centre for Disease Control to purchase Covid19 testing kits. The approval is expected in Bauchi between Wednesday 25 and 26 March 2020.
The police has been directed to strictly enforce the order.
