ZAMFARA STATE Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Yahaya Muhammad Kanoma has alerted that, one of the confirmed fresh cases of Covid-19 pandemic, a resident of Damba area in Gusau has fled.
The Commissioner explained that, the victim who lives in Abuja where he alleged to have contracted the virus had entered Gusau the Zamfara State capital.
He said on receiving the suspicious information, his ministry reached out to the victim at his residence in Damba and pleaded with him to allow officials take his blood sample for laboratory test. The pleadings, he said took them longer time before the victim allowed them to take his blood sample.
Kanoma further noted that, contrary to the laid down rules of anybody suspected to have contracted the virus, the victim was alleged to have immediately left Gusau for Shinkafi Local Government area and later moved to Kano and Kaduna State respectively.
He said the result of his sample was returned to Zamfara Wednesday, and it was positive, adding that, on return to get the victim isolated, it was noted that, he was on the run.
The Commissioner noted that, several calls have been put to his telephone lines but the victim neither pick nor returns the calls.
He said the ministry later reached out to his personal driver who informed the officials of the ministry that the victim has already returned to Abuja and that they were on their way to the airport for boarding.
Kanoma further said, he has contacted the Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Health to assist them to get the victim hence some sources confirmed that the victim works with the Aso Rock Villa, but noted that after several contacts at the Aso Rock Villa, it has come to their notice that the victim was not a staff of Aso Rock Villa as alleged by unconfirmed sources.
He said “As at today, another information reaching us was that, the victim has directed his driver to move his family to Abuja, but the ministry is watching his movements and remain hopeful of reaching him”.
The Commissioner further noted that, they have already placed his houses at Kado Estate in Abuja and that of Kaduna on surveillance as well as alerted the security personnel on Kaduna borders hoping that the victim will be arrested.
