MEDIA PRACTITIONERS have been charged to use their callings positively to unite the Nation.
The Kwara State Deputy Governor, Mr Kayode Alabi gave the charge today in Ilorin while receiving in audience the North Central Zonal Director of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Mallam Haruna Idris in his office.
Mr Alabi called on journalism practitioners, particularly Radio Stations, to create programmes that will educate and change the mindset of the youth towards Nation’s development.
The Deputy Governor explained that the Media houses have greater role to play in shaping the behaviour and character of the people especially the Youth who are the leaders of tomorrow.
He commended FRCN for its role in educating Nigerians to be alive to their civic responsibility among others.
The FRCN North Central Zonal Director, Mallam Haruna Idris thanked the Kwara State government for its support to its Station, Harmony FM, calls for it sustenance to meet the need of modern broadcasting.
Mallam Idris explained that the principal function of FRCN is to disseminate information, promote peace and cultural values through ethical broadcasting and programming in line with its cardinal principles and objectives, which is uplifting the people and uniting the nation.
The Zonal Director promised that Radio Nigeria would continue to provide unbiased, balanced and fair coverage of all events in the state and the nation at large.
Earlier in his introductory remarks, the General Manager of Harmony FM, Alhaji Gboyega Olanrewaju praised the State government for its support.
He narrated some of the harrowing experiences Staff of the Station passed through during the last general elections.
