Abe donates computer lab to community school

FORMER REPRESENTATIVE of the Rivers South-East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Magnus Ngei Abe, has built a laboratory and donated desktop computers to Community Secondary School, Bera in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Speaking on the occasion, the former commissioner and secretary to the state government “Senator Abe described the gesture as his contribution to give back to the development of the school and urged the teachers, students and the community to ensure due diligence in the usage of the computers”.  
He said “the computers will help to breed children that would compete favourably with other children in other parts of the world as no one can achieve anything meaningful in the world of today without a good knowledge of the computer”.
The former member of the national Assembly said: “I am handing over these desktop computers complete with desk and chairs to this school today because without computers there’s no point pretending that we are educating our children”.
“This computers will help breed children that will not become criminals who will shoot guns to scare people but children that will compete to become Doctors, Lawyers, Engineers and Architects; positive children that will impact this community”.
The Ghokana born lawmaker and  carrier lawyer maintained that we can do that will better the tomorrow of our children, let’s all do it. I bought computers because that is the key to the future”.
 The APC leader stressed that pupils and students must be given computer education in this twenty first century,  adding that the world today is information technology driven.”Our bringing computers here today is an acknowledgement of the fact that without computers, our children cannot learn anything meaningful because the world today is online.
The former Chairman, Senate Committee on FERMA, condemned the attitude of some miscreants in the area, who came to shoot guns within the vicinity to scare the children and the people.
Describing the action of the miscreants and their sponsors as the height of irresponsibility, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain called on the security agents to fish them out.
The Senator also called on government at all level to provide adequate security in the area.
He wondered if the government in his days have not provided an atmosphere of peace, he and other of his peers would not have been successful in life.

Earlier in his welcome address, Principal of the Community Junior Secondary School Bera, Agbora Baribor, thanked Senator Magnus Abe for his magnanimity and philanthropy.Baribor said: “This computer laboratory is a timely project considering the importance of Computer Education to the twenty-first century child”.

“It is a thing of joy that henceforth our students can have practical knowledge of the computer.

 The principal who was full of thanks said “This will position them to compete favourably with their counterparts from other schools as job interviews, Jamb Examination and many other tests are computer-based”.
Baribor who also noted among other things the Senator has donated to the school in the past which includes; provision of borehole, generator for the school and payment of Junior WAEC fees for two academic sessions.
In his goodwill message on the occasion, Paramount ruler of the community, Chief Magnus Deekor thanked the Senator for all he has done and the ones he is planning to do.
