LOSS OF confidence in the Nigerian Police has led to the lynching of a suspected robber at Dutse Alhaji, near the Daughter of Charity Hospital in Kubwa District of Abuja, barely three weeks after a mob burnt three suspected ‘one chance’ criminals in their car before the arrival of police personnel.
Eye witnesses stated that the suspect had attempted to snatch a motorcycle from a commercial motorcycle rider with an accomplice but their plot was foiled when their victim raised alarm which attracted the mob.
One of the suspected robbers was allegedly killed and his body set ablaze on the rail track, but his accomplice was rescued by the police.
The incident attracted several commercial motorcyclists who converged on the bridge overlooking the scene to catch a glimpse of the suspect’s charred remains before it was later evacuated.
Assistant Spokesman of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, ASP Miriam Yusuf, stated that details of the incident have not been reported yet when the office was contacted.0
